Capital Next
Capital NEXT is a dynamic three-week course at Capital to help you learn more about our vision and values, and what it means to Own, Partner, and Invest at Capital. Each week Troy will teach on a critical component of discipleship and this interactive course will give you tools to grow in your faith, learn how God wired you for serving, and you’ll have an opportunity to meet with a coach to help you join God in what he’s doing in our church, community, and world.

Whether you’re just starting your journey with Jesus or you’ve been following him for years… whether you’ve been attending Capital for years, or you’ve only recently become a part of our community, we hope and pray that you grow in your discipleship, friendship, and faith in our community and beyond. Capital NEXT is a great place for anyone to take the next step in their journey with Jesus. As you participate in each session, we pray you find deep connection, joy in giving, hope through serving, and deep waters of faith in God as you navigate life with him. SESSION ONE
Own
We take responsibility for our personal journey with Jesus.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed not only in my presence but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:12,13
At Capital, our vision is to lead people to become Christ-centered disciples. Simply put, a disciple is someone who is learning from Jesus how to live his or her life. And Jesus said you can sum up his teaching by living according to two commands: Love God and Love Others. We are all at different places on our spiritual journey, but how close you follow Jesus is up to you. Our hope is that in this class, you will learn what it means to do something every day that connects you with God. As we do things that bring us closer to God, he transforms us into the people he’s called us to be.

Partner

We were created for connection, and at Capital, we have cultivated environments where meaningful friendships can thrive. Our aim is for everyone to find two to three friends who will help each other see God and find strength in him. Our spiritual journey flourishes in community and each of us has a deep need to love and be loved. Let us help you get started by joining a small group or ministry. It’s an opportunity for you to trust God to lead you into life-giving friendship.
Partnering at Capital means we devote ourselves to one another as we experience life together. Participants will learn about the importance of spiritual friendships along with our vision for small groups.

SESSION THREE
Invest
We commit our time, talents, and resources as we join God in what he’s doing in our world.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16
God has hardwired us for generosity, and there is nothing like the feeling of joining God as he brings up there down here. Each of us has different gifts and passions and we are all in different spaces of life. At Capital, we believe that investing your time, talents and resources in the lives of others is the only way to truly live. How does God want you to serve? What does he want you to give? This will look different for each individual as we are all in different seasons of life. Join us as we learn what it means to “Lose Your Life to Find It.”
